ShannaSchmidtNumismaticsInc

Shanna Schmidt Numismatics is a boutique dealership specializing in ancient Greek, Roman Republican, Roman Imperial, and Byzantine coins, with a select offering of world coinage. Based in Chicago, we bring more than twenty years of experience in ancient and world numismatics to every coin we offer.

Our inventory is intentionally small. Each coin is chosen for its quality, historical interest, and eye appeal, and we would rather offer fewer coins of real merit than fill our store with ordinary material. Whether you are adding your first tetradrachm or refining a advanced collection, we aim to offer coins you will be proud to own for decades.

Every description is written with care. We cite standard references such as Crawford, RIC, HGC, and Price, and we record pedigrees and provenance wherever they are known, because a coin's history after it left the mint is part of its story.

Our grading is conservative and honest. We describe strike, centering, surfaces, and any flaws plainly, and our photographs are taken to show each coin as it truly appears in hand. We want every coin to look as good or better when it arrives than it did on your screen.

Shanna is also pursuing doctoral research on coin collecting as a form of cultural preservation, and that commitment to scholarship and responsible collecting guides everything we do.

We welcome questions about any coin in our inventory and are always glad to help collectors build meaningful collections.
