Important information for Auction 3
Auction 3 closes this Friday, and we want to make sure every bidder is fully prepared. Whether this is your first L5 auction or you’ve been with us from the start, here’s everything you need to know before bidding.
7 Essential Tips for Auction Success
1 Add your credit card now
A credit card on file is required to place bids because it verifies your account — but nothing is ever charged automatically. You will only be charged if you personally choose to use that card when paying an invoice. Add your card under My Account → Account → Credit Cards
2 Build your watchlist
Browse the auction and tap the star icon on the lots you’re interested in. Your watchlist becomes your personal dashboard during the live close.
3 Know how bidding works – Your max bid is a secret
You can place a quick bid realtime or enter a maximum bid. A max bid acts as a proxy: the system will only bid as high as necessary to keep you in front, and your max bid is always private — never revealed to sellers or to other bidders.
4 Follow the auction live
Click “Follow Auction Live” on the auction page at any time. This view shows the lot currently closing, updates in real time, and automatically moves to the next lot. You can place bids directly from this screen.
5 Watch in-hand videos
Many lots include in-hand videos that reveal luster, surface texture, and relief far better than photos alone. They’re worth reviewing before placing bids.
6 Understand invoices and fees
After the auction ends:
- Each seller will invoice you for the hammer price + shipping.
- L5 will send a separate invoice for the buyer’s premium, which is paid directly to L5. The buyer’s premium is our only fee and is what keeps the platform running and improving.
7 Community transparency = safer bidding
Lots include open comments, community grading, and attribution discussion. If there’s a correction, concern, or added provenance, you’ll see it publicly. And every coin purchased on L5 is covered by our lifetime authenticity guarantee.
