Sasanian Empire Khosrow II 590-628 AD AR Silver Drachm • Fire Altar • Choice AU

This authentic ancient Persian silver drachm was struck during the final golden age of the Sasanian Empire under its legendary monarch, Khosrow II (590–628 AD). The obverse features an exceptionally detailed, crowned portrait of the "Victorious King" enclosed by double-beaded borders and symbolic crescent-and-star margins. The reverse highlights the empire's Zoroastrian state religion, depicting a central holy fire altar guarded by two formal, armed attendants. Displaying clear Pahlavi inscriptions, strong facial definition, and a broad, bright silver flan, this piece serves as a fantastic, highly visual type specimen from late antiquity just prior to the early Islamic conquests.
