Mamluks. al-Nasir Nasir al-Din Muhammad I. AE Fals

Mamluks. al-Nasir Nasir al-Din Muhammad I. AE Fals (bronze, 1.2g, 15mm). AH 693-4, 698-708, 709-41 / AD 1293-4, 1299-1309, 1310-41

Arabic title: المماليك، الناصر ناصر الدين محمد الأول، فلس نحاسي

Obv: Eagle with open wings with head left

Rev: Al Sultan / al-Malik al-Nasir; in two line

Ref: Balog, Mamluks 263 (var)

Note: Struck under al-Nasir Muhammad, this type reflects the visual identity of a powerful and centralized Mamluk state during its architectural and political peak. The eagle with open wings is a rare dynastic emblem in Islamic coinage, echoing symbols of sovereignty and authority more commonly seen in earlier Byzantine and regional traditions.
