PHRYGIA, Julia (Ioulieōn). Nero (AD 54–68). AE17.

An intriguing Roman Provincial bronze (AE17) from the city of Julia in Phrygia, struck under Emperor Nero (AD 54-68). This specimen features a youthful portrait of Nero and a reverse depicting the local lunar deity, Mên, on horseback.

The reverse is particularly noteworthy for its iconographic detail, showing Mên wearing a Phrygian cap and carrying the characteristic bipennis (double-headed axe). Struck under the magistrate Sergios Hephaistion.
