Description
Alexander III “The Great” AR Tetradrachm — Babylon Mint (323–320 BC)
This silver tetradrachm, struck at the Babylon mint shortly after the death of Alexander the Great, features on its obverse the head of Herakles facing right, wearing the iconic lion‑skin headdress. On the reverse, the god Zeus is depicted seated left on a backless throne, holding an eagle in his extended right hand and a long scepter in his left, accompanied by the inscription ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ (“of Alexander”). These posthumous issues continued Alexander’s monetary style and served as a stabilizing currency across his former empire
