Roman Small Encrusted Roman Transport Amphora

Roman Small Encrusted Roman Transport Amphora, ca. 1st Century BC-1st Century AD. This stout amphora features significant marine encrustations across its entire surface, indicative of it being a sea salvage specimen. The encrustations are well cemented to the piece, and, interestingly, there is green discoloration present on one side of the vessel, ostensibly from copper-alloy objects at the original findspot leeching oxidation products onto the piece through direct contact over a long period. Overall, a handsome piece without any repairs, at a manageable size, and mounted for display. H. 9" W. 3" (22.9 cm x 7.6 cm)..
