Description

Lincoln Cent, 1995-1¢, MS64, RB, Double Struck Obverse Die Cap, NGC.

A double-struck obverse die cap occurs when a freshly struck coin sticks to the obverse die and receives additional strikes while still adhered. With each blow, the cap expands upward around the die neck, and the design on its inner surface becomes increasingly distorted. A second strike deepens the cupped shape and exaggerates the metal flow, often leaving the interior with a sharp, incuse obverse image and the exterior stretched, blurred, or uniface.

The result is a dramatic, high-grade die cap showing clear evidence of multiple strikes and progressive deformation.
