First Jewish War. Bronze Prutah

First Jewish War; Yr. 3 = 68/9 AD, Prutah, 2.60g. Hendin-6392. Obv: 'Year 3' in Paleo-Hebrew, amphora with broad rim and two handles. Rx: 'Freedom of Zion,' Vine leaf on branch with tendril.Issues of this year are of a quite beautiful design, with decorated, lidded amphora, but are frequently struck very off-center, never showing the beauty of the type. This coin, therefore, is a rare and wonderful example. . EF
