Description

Beautiful example of the classic Athens tetradrachm from 454-404 BC which funded the Athenian empire.  Exceptional and detailed strike, violent flow lines, nice metal quality and luster

- Obverse is very nice with great AU detail on Athena's jewelry (earing, necklace), flow lines from the strike, and has much more of the crest present than is typical though not a full crest (would otherwise be a $2k+ coin); does have a slightly scrunched nose

- Reverse is quite nice and crisp as well with a well-centered owl and clear lettering; likely a worn die resulting in an imperfect nose for the owl, but otherwise extremely nice

- Fantastic metal, luster, and coloring (see video) without the "washed out" look of many brushed or recently cleaned Athens tetradrachms
