Poseidon Quadrans, NO RESERVE

Description
The kerykeion above the dolphin distinguishes Crawford Paestum 7/2 from 6/2 (HN Italy 1197), which lacks it. Weight matches ANS 1944.100.5205 (3.53 g).
The city was Poseidonia, named for Poseidon, whose diademed head fills the obverse; the dolphin on the reverse is his creature and a sign of the sea around the colony. Even under its later Latin name Paestum, the coinage kept the sea-god of its Greek founders.
Check out my other auctions. I'll be running a good number of $1 starts with no reserve. In particular I will be running other Greek bronzes.
