Description
Although the actual reason for the cupped shape of these coins is uncertain, the concave shape of the very thin metal gave it strength to resist breakage, and it made clipping of the coin more difficult. Additionally, it aids in stacking the coins.
A unusually good reverse strike for this series, compare the detail with other examples.
