AR Denarius, 3.10g. Rome mint, struck circa 145-161 AD.
Obverse: ANTONINVS AVG PIVS P P TR P COS IIII, laureate head right.
Reverse: CONCORDIA AVG, Concordia standing left, holding patera in right hand and double cornucopia in left.
References: RIC III 175; RSC 157; BMC 551; Sear RCV II 4077.
Grade: Good VF. Well centered on a broad flan, sharp portrait with attractive old cabinet toning. Complete legends. Minor edge split at 11 o’clock on obverse, typical for the issue.
Note: Antoninus Pius was Hadrian’s adopted successor and ruled during the height of the Pax Romana, 138-161 AD. Concordia represented harmony in the state and imperial family. At 3.10g, this example is of good weight and metal for the period.
