This denarius was struck during the latter part of the reign of Septimius Severus, commemorating Roman victories in the Parthian campaigns of 197–202. The reverse type depicts the goddess Victory, symbolizing Roman success and legitimizing Severus’ rule through military achievement. Such coins were part of wider imperial propaganda to reinforce the emperor’s image as a successful military leader. The legend VICT PART MAX refers to the title "Victoria Parthica Maxima" and celebrated Severus’ status as conqueror of the Parthians, integrating the victory into Rome’s political and cultural narrative during the Severan dynasty.
