Historically, this coin was produced during the period of the Tetrarchy, a system of ruling in the late Roman Empire where power was divided among four emperors to ensure stability and control over the vast territories. Galerius, appointed as Caesar by Diocletian, played a crucial role in defending the empire's borders and implementing the administrative reforms that characterized this era. This coinage not only reflects the political propaganda of shared imperial authority but also serves as a testament to the economic strategies adopted to stabilize the empire during times of transition.
