The reverse displays a partially readable legend "LEG [...]," which signifies a legion number that remains uncertain. The legionary denarii, minted by Mark Anthony in 32 BC, hold notable historical significance as they were struck to financially support his naval fleet and troops during the critical period leading up to the Battle of Actium. These coins served as payments to soldiers and were inherently meant to reinforce loyalty among the legions enlisted for Anthony's campaign against Octavian. The coins also symbolized Anthony's authority and aspirations, as they were a vital tool in propagating his military agenda at a time of intense rivalry in the late Roman Republic.
