Note: Very Rare, The لقب (honorific title) “Al-Saffah” (السفّاح) is commonly translated into English as “The Blood-Shedder” or “The Slaughterer.” It was likely intended to symbolize strength, vengeance, and the ruthless defeat of the Umayyads during the Abbasid Revolution rather than indiscriminate cruelty.

Abu al-Abbas al-Saffah adopted this title after becoming the first Abbasid Caliph in 132 AH / 750 AD, marking the beginning of Abbasid rule and a major turning point in Islamic history.
