Macedon under Roman rule, Tetradrachm, AR, minted in Amphipolis, 150 BC. The coin weighs 16.74g. The obverse features a draped bust of Artemis facing right, adorned with a stephane, with a bow and quiver over her shoulder. She is encircled by a Macedonian shield, ornamented with stars within double crescents. The reverse bears the inscription MAKEΔONΩN ΠΡOTHΣ, indicative of the Macedonian first region. During this period, Macedon fell under Roman control following the defeat of the Antigonid dynasty.
