Maximinus II Daia was a significant yet controversial figure during the tumultuous period of the Tetrarchy. His rule coincided with the final years of the Tetrarchic system, during which he maintained power in the eastern provinces. His reign is particularly noted for his adherence to and promotion of traditional polytheistic Roman religion in opposition to the rising influence of Christianity, a stance contributing to the persecutions of Christians in the region. Coins from his era, such as this, serve as enduring artifacts reflecting both his political authority and religious policies.
