Description
The reign of Antoninus Pius (AD 138–161) was marked by stability, prosperity, and effective administration across the Roman Empire. Governing from Italy without major military campaigns, he focused on legal reform, public works, and the welfare of his subjects, maintaining peace along the frontiers through capable generals. His rule is often seen as the height of the Pax Romana, characterized by economic strength, orderly governance, and continuity within the adoptive succession of the Nerva-Antonine dynasty.
Note the helmeted goddess Roma, seated on a throne with spear in her right hand. She is holding the personification of victory, Victoria.
