Closed
Description
Issuer: Gallienus (Roman Emperor, 253–268 AD).
Mint: Antioch in Pisidia (modern-day Yalvaç, Turkey).
Denomination: AE (Bronze), likely an "As" or "Dupondius" equivalent in size (approx. 22–24mm).
Obverse: Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Gallienus facing right. The legend typically reads IMP C P LIC GALLIENVS P F AVG.
Reverse: Three military standards (signa). The legend reads ANTIOCHIA CL (Antiochia Colonia Caesarea) with SR in the exergue.
Significance of "SR": the Senatus Romanus mark is a distinctive feature of the Pisidian Antioch mint, signifying the city’s status as a Roman colony.
