Historically, this tetradrachm represents the integration of Macedon into the Roman Republic following its conquest. Issued around 150 BC, this coin illustrates the transitional phase where Greek cultural elements, such as the imagery of Artemis, continued to persist even under Roman administrative and political control. The minting in Amphipolis reflects both the preservation of local traditions and the adaptation to a new ruling authority, highlighting the blending of Greek artistic style with Roman governance.
