Krannon was a significant city-state in ancient Thessaly, located near the source of the Onchestos river. It was known for its prosperity, particularly during the 6th and 5th centuries BC, and for its connection to Poseidon, the sea god. The city's name, derived from the springs in the area, reflects the abundance of water and land. Krannon also played a role in the Lamian War, serving as the site of a decisive battle between Macedonia and Athens.
