Description
Bronze follis of Justinian I struck at Antioch (Theoupolis), identifiable by the mintmark THEUP in exergue. Well-centred example with clear ANNO XI (537/538 AD) and officina Γ in the right field.
The obverse shows a strong and well-defined imperial bust with clearly legible legend. The reverse features a bold, sharply struck M, with ANNO clearly visible at left, XXI at right, and the officina mark Γ distinct in the field.
The surfaces display a dark patina with contrasting lighter areas that enhance the relief and overall visual impact of the piece.
A clearly dated eastern mint issue from the reign of Justinian I, combining historical importance with strong eye appeal.
