Crispina, Augusta, 178-182. Denarius

This silver denarius was issued during the reign of Emperor Commodus and features Crispina, his empress.

Obverse: Draped bust of Crispina facing right, often accompanied by the legend CRISPINA AVG, identifying her as Augusta.

Reverse: Varies by issue, but commonly depicts Roman goddesses such as Venus, Juno, or Concordia, symbolizing harmony, virtue, or imperial ideals.

These coins were part of the imperial propaganda of the late Antonine period and are valued today for their elegant portraiture and historical significance.
