Reverse with Alexandria type of an eagle standing left on a thunderbolt, head right, holding wreath in beak; reverse legend ΑΥΤΟΚΡΑ with date L ΙΒ in field. Well-centered strike with clear legends and principal devices. RPC I 5289.
Alexandrian tetradrachms of Nero are dated by regnal year and form a primary monetary series for Roman Egypt, reflecting the province’s closed currency system and local Greek epigraphy under imperial authority. The eagle-on-thunderbolt reverse continues Ptolemaic-derived Alexandrian iconography adapted to Roman rule, while the regnal date L ΙΒ fixes the issue precisely to 65/66 AD within Nero’s reign.
