Alexandrian tetradrachms were the principal silver denomination in Roman Egypt’s closed monetary system and are precisely datable by regnal-year notation; this L IA issue corresponds to AD 64/65, placing it within the historical context of Nero’s later reign, including the year of the Great Fire of Rome. The coin illustrates the provincial practice of employing Greek legends and locally favored types while affirming imperial authority.
