Description

Struck at Alexandria in Egypt in AD 84–85, the fourth regnal year of Domitian. The obverse carries his laureate head right and portions of his Greek imperial titles, with the profile visible beneath brown patina and ochre deposits.

The reverse shows the bust of Sarapis right. Its catalogue legend, ΕΤΟΥΣ ΤΕΤΑΡΤΟΥ, means “of the fourth year.” The bust remains outlined while much of the surrounding lettering is softened; two notches interrupt the edge.
