Arcadius — Maiorina, GLORIA ROMANORVM, Cyzicus, AE AE2

Struck at Cyzicus between 392 and 395, in the final years of Theodosius I's reign as senior Augustus. The portrait and legend are those of his co-emperor Arcadius, D N ARCADIVS P F AVG, issued under Theodosius' authority; Arcadius went on to reign in his own right from 395 to 408.

The reverse reads GLORIA ROMANORVM, "the glory of the Romans." The emperor stands facing, head right, holding a military standard and a globe, presenting the ruler as commander of the army and guardian of the Roman world.
