KINGS OF BAKTRIA, Greco-Baktrian Kingdom. Silver obol of Eukratides I Megas, struck circa 170–145 BC. Obverse with diademed and draped bust right. Reverse inscribed ΒΑΣΙΛΕΟΣ ΕΥΚΡΑΤΙΔΟΥ surrounding the caps of the Dioskouroi, each surmounted by a palm frond, with monogram below. A sharply detailed and attractive miniature denomination (“mega obol”) issued under one of the most powerful and expansionist rulers of Hellenistic Baktria. AR, 10 mm, 0.67 g.
