Indian Indian Bronze Bengal Krishna and Radha Matched Pair

Indian Indian Bronze Bengal Krishna and Radha Matched Pair, ca. 17th-18th Century AD. This is rare larger matched pair of the Hindu god Krishna and his consort Radha. The pieces are sculpted in an earlier style from Bengal with delicate engraving. Most available sculpture from Bengal dates from the late 18th to early 20th centuries and has less ornamentation than the present pair. Relative to better known Indian styles from the south, eastern Indian styles generally have less ornamentation and a sleek almost modern appearance. The pieces are cast in a yellowish copper alloy tending to brass (copper and zinc) with the smooth satin finish and softened edges that only comes from years of devotional wear.
