By Vasiliki Penna & Yannis Stoyas.

Academy of Athens, 2012. In English. Clothbound, 29 cm, 292 pp., 126 b/w plates, 1233 Hellenic and hellenized coins; net weight 1320 gr.

Presents the first part of the Numismatic Collection of the Welfare Foundation for Social and Cultural Affairs (KIKPE), Athens. The collection is currently on loan to the Benaki Museum. A principal feature of this collection is the almost exclusive presence of bronze/copper coins, partly in an attempt to promote the role and the importance of bronze coinage as a medium facilitating everyday dealings. The 1,233 ancient hellenic and hellenized coins published here represent a geographical area extending from Hispania to Bactria and India, and from the Taurike Chersonesus to Mauritania. The terminus ante quem for the volume is the years 27-25 B.C.
