Despite their long-standing placement within the American colonial series, so-called “Kentucky Tokens” were not struck in the United States, nor do they have any direct connection to Kentucky itself. Produced in England, these pieces are essentially part of the broader Conder token tradition, though their American-themed devices led early U.S. numismatists to adopt them into the colonial copper canon. The present example shows honest circulation wear consistent with the grade, while retaining the historic charm that has kept the Kentucky Token a fixture in colonial type collections.
