Antoninus Pius. Denarius

Antoninus Pius; 138-161 AD, Ancient imitation with rx. of Faustina II, Denarius, 2.38g. Strack-520b (Obv Faustina, dated under Pius, but the sloping lettering suggests it is an imitation). Obv; ANTONINVS AVG-PIVS PP TRP XXII, Laureate head r. Rx: DIANA-LVCIF, standing l. holding torch with both hands. Ex Curtis L. Clay Collection; Ex Gitbud & Naumann eBay, July 2014.Even though it is listed as ancient imitation, it is good enough that it may have been the product of a mint with inferior die-cutters. MS
