Description
Exonumia, 1863-Medal, MS62, Sydney F. Martin Collection, Pennsylvania Census, GW-572, PCGS.
An odd medal with a fairly mysterious origin. Four medals with a common obverse, all celebrating the 1855 census of Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York and Illinois. First appearing in a December, 1865 sale. Musante says these were produced in 1863 and ordered by the Numismatic Association of Rhode Island.
