This issue is considerably scarcer than the same type ending 'CAESS FEL KART', the AUCTA type only being issued for one year, 298-299 AD, compared to a six year date range (297-303 AD) for FEL KART. AUCTA (Latin: to augment) replacing FELIX (fortunate), presumably a type praising the Tetrarchs as the restorer of sad, old Carthage.
The African Revolt: Around AD 297–298, Maximianus traveled to North Africa to brutally suppress a massive rebellion by the Quinquegentiani (a confederation of Berber tribes)
