Description

Umayyad: 'Abd al-Malik (685-705), silver dirham (2.25g), al-Jisr ("the bridge") mint, AH 81 (700-701 CE). Klat 231. Pierced, otherwise very fine. Extremely rare. Al-Jisr is one of the ambiguous mints that operated under the Umayyads. Its exact location has not yet been determined. Dirhams of al-Jisr are characterized by a very crude style of script.
