Description

Pre-Columbian Tlitalco DK Type Figurine, Early Preclassic, ca. 1200 - 900 BC. This large female is a well-modeled example of the specialized category of Type DK figures. She stands on small incised feet, her short arms held at her sides; her facial features are sharply defined with pierced, narrowed eyes set deeply in the wide facial plane. The tall headdress bears incised geometric design; the stylized emblems representative of fertility and power. Overall deep reddish-brown surfaces. Ex Jean-Pierre Guillermet collection. H. 12 1/4" W. 6 1/2" (31.1 cm x 16.5 cm)..
