Sold by DrEBlakeD
Description
Group of three copper-alloy belt or strap fittings, including two fragmentary openwork buckle/strap plates and a rectangular buckle frame. The pierced and riveted plates show similarities to late Roman military belt fittings of the 4th–early 5th centuries, particularly openwork types with geometric/keyhole-shaped apertures, although later reuse or dating cannot be excluded.
16–27 mm; 13.2 g combined. Dark brown-green patina with earthen deposits and corrosion.
Provenance: Old American collection; likely found in England.
