Trajan Decius.

Trajan Decius; 249-251 AD, Tarsus, Cilicia, AE 34-36, 22.36g. SNG Paris-1758 (same dies), RPC-temp. 1346 (18 spec.). Rx: ΤΑΡСΟ - V ΜΗ[ΤΡΟΠ]ΟΛEΩС Γ B around, Α / Μ - Κ in field, Perseus standing l., holding in r. hand statuette of Apollo Lykeios holding wolves, in l. hand Medusa head and harpa. Acquired from Ed Waddell, 2 June 1988. This Perseus type of Decius at Tarsus may well come from only a single die pair; at least that is the case for the eleven of RPC online's eighteen specimens of which illustrations are accessible, and for the additional two specimens in the present collection.
