Thrace, Ainos. Alexandria Diobol

Thrace, Ainos; c. 408/7-407/6 BC, Diobol, 1.23g. May-292-309. Obv: Head of Hermes r., wearing petasos with dotted border Rx: [A]INI; Goat prancing r. with raised foreleg. No obvious symbol below raised leg of goat, but cf. May 292-309 with same legend and prancing pose.Although the obverse shows poor centering, a coin of this issue is hard to come by in this grade, and they are rather rare in general. The reverse is very well-struck, with a exceptional, lively image of a goat. EF
