Authentic Roman Imperial bronze appliqué depicting Mercury, circa 2nd century AD. Cast figure wearing petasos and draped mantle, holding purse in right hand, caduceus cradled in left arm with integral suspension loops. Dark green-brown patina. Feet missing as made in antiquity, otherwise intact and stable. Height 50mm, weight 38.0g. Ex private collection. Perfect for cabinet of curiosities, merchant's talisman, or jewelry-box mount.
