Roman Redware Pottery Askos, Southern France, Spain, ca. 1st-2nd Century AD. In almost miniature form, the surface is done in a fine, shiny red-slipped finish. While the specific purpose of this particular shape is not know, its likely that it was used to pour liquids at the dinner table. Handle and spout broken and re-glued, otherwise excellent condition.
